Living by Design….Stacey Donadio

Back-to-school season is exciting, but let’s be real, it can also be chaotic. Between supply lists, after-school activities, and making sure everyone gets out the door on time, households can start to feel like they’re running a marathon before 8 AM. The good news? A few simple organizational hacks can bring back calm and structure.
1. Create a “Launch Pad”
Set up a dedicated spot near your entryway for backpacks, shoes, and lunch boxes. A simple bench with baskets or hooks on the wall can stop the “Where’s my backpack?!” scramble every morning.
2. Outfit Stations
Pick out outfits for the week on Sunday night and place them in labeled bins or hang them in order. It makes mornings smoother and helps kids gain independence.
3. Homework Command Center
Use a rolling cart, bins, or a desk setup with labeled supplies. Add a wall calendar and whiteboard to keep track of assignments, tests, and after-school events.
4. Simplify Lunches
Prep snacks and lunch items in bins within your fridge or pantry. Kids can grab and go while you save time each morning.
5. Sync the Family Schedule
Digital calendars like Google Calendar can be a game-changer. Color-code by family member so everyone knows what’s happening at a glance.
