Where are you from and where do you live now?
I’m from Little Silver and currently live in Little Silver:)
Tell us about your business!
I own Livingston Physical Therapy which I opened in 2012. We offer one on one physical therapy with individualized care for each patient. We focus on orthopedic issue from children to elderly. We do not use aides or assistants. Patients stay with their therapist for their whole session. We also offer wellness programs including stretching, massage, cupping, tapping, meditation and reiki.
What’s your background? What made you go into what you’re doing now?
I have a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy. I’ve always been active, into sports, and loved working the people. Physical Therapy is a great career to be able to help people while incorporating health and wellness which is very important to me.
What do you love about having a business in Monmouth County?
I love this area and feel that Monmouth County has so much to offer. I have 3 kids in the school district and love to support local businesses. I love the feel of small business in the local towns and Monmouth County and being able to be a small business to contribute to Monmouth County.
What has been the most challenging part of running your business during COVID, and how did you overcome it?
COVID has been extremely challenging for my business. I had to close down for 10 weeks in the Spring of 2020 and then open back slowly following all of the precautions. The hardest part is staying up to date with all of the guidelines and trying to manage patient exposures and my own exposures. I’ve tried to modify my life for the safety of my office and patients. Cancellations are still higher than normal due to COVID itself and COVID exposures. I am grateful that my business “made it through” but I would say it is still not back to “normal” yet.
What are some exciting plans you have for the business in 2022?
I am very excited for 2022 and to offer more wellness programs. We are just starting to offer Reiki and Tapping as part of our wellness program. We offer wellness packages consisting of stretching, massage and cupping by a licensed physical therapist. I am also starting a certification in Functional Medicine which I will be thrilled to incorporate into my practice.
What’s your favorite business in Monmouth County (other than yours!)?
I absolutely love the Blonde Shallot. I don’t love to cook so her salads and meals save me:)) I love 606 in Fair Haven. I can always find a gift for someone and usually buy one for myself at the same time. There are so many wonderful entrepreneurs in Monmouth County, (especially females) and it is truly inspiring. I hope we can all support local as everyone is making such a unique contribution to this area.
